UW Spring Commencement May 11

The University of Wyoming’s spring commencement ceremonies, featuring four separate events, are planned Saturday, May 11.

UW is scheduled to accord degrees upon 1,301 undergraduate students, 424 graduate students, 79 College of Law students and 24 School of Pharmacy students.

All ceremonies, free and open to the public, will be held in the Arena-Auditorium, with the exception of the College of Law ceremony, which is scheduled in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts. The ceremonies will be livestreamed; links are available at https://wyolinks.uwyo.edu/2024SpringComm/.

Graduates should arrive at War Memorial Fieldhouse one hour before their respective ceremony start times. Parking and shuttle information may be found here.

The schedule for each ceremony is:

-- 8:30 a.m.: Undergraduate ceremony for the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources; College of Business; College of Health Sciences; Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources; and School of Energy Resources.

The keynote address will be given by Gaurdia Banister, executive director of the Institute for Patient Care at Massachusetts General Hospital. Banister earned her B.S.N. from UW, where she received distinguished alumna awards from both the university and the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing. She earned her M.S.N. and doctorate from the University of Texas-Austin, where she also was chosen as a distinguished alumna.

David Stotzer, of Albuquerque, N.M., who is graduating with degrees in business economics and marketing, will deliver the student address.

-- 10 a.m.: College of Law ceremony. The keynote speaker is Cheyenne Municipal Court Judge David Singleton.

-- 12:15 p.m.: Graduate ceremony for master’s and doctoral students from the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Business; College of Education; College of Engineering and Physical Sciences; College of Health Sciences; and Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources.

Banister is the keynote speaker.

Presenting the student address will be Clay Carper, of Riverton, a first-generation college student who received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from UW before becoming a doctoral student in the university’s Cyber Education and Research Center.

-- 3:30 p.m.: Undergraduate ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences; College of Education; College of Engineering and Physical Sciences; and Office of Academic Affairs.

Banister is the keynote speaker.

Carson Almand, of Midlothian, Texas, a double major in musical theater and communication, is the student speaker.

UW-Casper’s commencement is at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at the Best Western Downtown Casper Hotel.
