Bloodborne pathogens are disease causing organisms present in human blood.  These pathogens include hepatitis B virus (HBV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).  Many other diseases can be found in human blood.   Tuberculosis, herpes viruses, malaria, and encephalitis all can be present in human blood.
