Each student develops a course of study, in consultation with his or her advisor and committee, in order to obtain the best possible preparation for the future, whether that be working with in the private sector, a governmental agency or university, with an NGO, or any other application of an international studies graduate degree.
Students may pursue a Master's in international studies in such areas as international business and economics, international development, international cultural studies, international education, area studies (regions of the world), or some combination of these. Students actively engage in a variety of research opportunities, often traveling to a foreign country to perform research work.
A concurrent major in international studies and environment and natural resources (enr) is also available. The objective of the joint degree is to provide students with an opportunity to add knowledge about policy and science elements of enr issues, as well as enr problem-solving skills, to their traditional graduate program.
