I'm a faculty member in the Botany Department and the Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC). I'm an adjunct faculty in the Department of Ecosystem Science & Management (ESM) and the Science & Math Teaching Center (SMTC).
Teaching
My Remote Sensing and Environmental Sciences courses emphasize active learning and require students to apply the concepts for understanding the processes and acquire problem solving skills. Students are expected to engage in the learning process rather than assimilate information and reproduce it in tests and exams.
More information about my UW courses can be found in the Teaching section.
Research
My overall research interest is Environmental Remote Sensing and my current research projects focus on mapping and monitoring a) vegetation, b) water bodies (lakes and reservoirs), c) crop growth in small farms, and d) land cover/land use (LCLU). I work with remotely sensed data collected from satellite and airborne platforms to study vegetation types, conditions, and changes over time in small fields to large river deltas in the US and abroad.
Information on current and past research projects are in the Research section.
