Departmental Awards


UW Theatre and Dance has several special awards available to recognize outstanding students in acting performance, dance performance, and technical/design performance. These awards are given annually and are presented to students during the annual DRAM prom at the end of the academic year. Each award recipient is presented a monetary gift and certificate and has his or her name inscribed on one of our student awards plaques.

The Jack Oakie Acting Award recognizes best comic performance by a student during the production year, as well as contributions to the department and growth as a comic actor. The award is named for and honors Jack Oakie, one of the important comic actors in early film.

Other awards recognizing outstanding work and growth of students as artists and student contributions to the department include the June S. Lee Dance Award; the Jeff Lee Acting Award; the Technical Design Award; and the Coco Kleppinger Scholarship for theatre students.
