WyGISC Assists Educators at UW Early Care and Education Center

WyGISC assisted educators at the UW Early Care and Education Center, a service and education unit of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, to build an interpretive and educational display of the University of Wyoming Campus. The educators used a poster plot of aerial photography of the main campus provided by WYGISC and highlighted locations on the poster that were visited by the students on field trips. The multimedia presentation is shown in the figure below. The display in shown in the foyer of the Education Center.

NCALM Seed Proposal from Graduate Students

The National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM), funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), invites proposals from graduate students seeking airborne laser swath mapping (ALSM) observations covering limited areas (no more than 40 square kilometres ) for use in research to earn an M.S. or PhD degree. Environmental Systems Research Institute International Users Conference

July 20, 2009 – WyGISC was represented by Research Associate Teal Wyckoff at the annual Environmental Systems Research Institute International Users Conference, July 13-17 in San Diego, CA. Center contributions included poster entries on energy cyberinfrastructure and tourism data delivery in the conference map gallery. Teal also attended the ESRI Education User Conference on July 11-12.

Western Planners Conference

WyGISC Back-to-School Luncheon

August 31, 2009 – With the fall 2009 semester getting underway, WyGISC staff hosted a back-to-school luncheon for colleagues in the Department of Geography and the Center’s academic affiliates and graduate students from across campus. The annual event has been a tradition since 2004.

2009 Western Lands Conservation Initiative Science Workshop

May 18, 2009 – WyGISC staff participated in the 2009 Western Lands Conservation Initiative Science Workshop, sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey, May 12-14 in Laramie, WY. The WLCI is a multi-partner, long-term, science-based program to assess, monitor, and enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats at a landscape scale in southwest Wyoming. WyGISC is actively involved in WLCI data and information development activities. WyGISC presenters included Margo Berendsen, Jim Oakleaf and Ramesh Sivanpillai.
