American Heritage Center

The University Archives and Records Management Program serves the faculty, staff, colleges, admin departments, organizations and other units within UW by assisting with records management and providing a secure repository for both physical and electronic records of enduring value. The University Archives is the repository for permanent university records, faculty papers, and the records of student organizations. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to contact the university archivist for assistance in transferring university administration records and donating personal papers.

UW Record Retention Schedules

According to the State Public Record Statutes and per University Regulation 7-490: “The University Archivist will assist in assessing functions related to managing information at the university, particularly electronic data, to make certain that departments and programs are a) consistent in following procedures for managing information, b) complying with state public record laws, and c) ensuring the long-term preservation of administratively and historically valuable material by verifying completion and fulfillment of records retention schedules.”
