The Animal Science Department at the University of Wyoming is guided by land-grant principles – serving students, consumers, and animal agriculture stakeholders. Outreach/Extension


The UW Animal Science department is dedicated to providing unbiased, research-based information to livestock industries and consumers. Through continuing education, our specialists address industry needs, including beef and sheep production. We collaborate with the meat extension program and support youth involvement through partnerships with 4-H and FFA.

UW Extension Sheep Program

The University of Wyoming Extension Sheep Program provides needs driven information to Wyoming sheep producers in all aspects of sheep and wool production. Extension outreach, applied research, and undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Wyoming encompass the mission of the sheep program. 

UW Extension Beef Program

University of Wyoming Beef Extension provides research-based resources to beef producers in Wyoming. Furthermore, the annual High Altitude Bull Test offers students hands-on learning and industry connections, enhancing their understanding of the livestock industry.

UW Extension Meat Science

UW Meat Outreach collaborates closely with sheep and beef extension programs, conducting research and providing undergraduate and graduate research opportunities. Through daily and weekly meat reports, the program offers valuable insights and custom reports.
