The Department of Theatre and Dance offers talent-based scholarships for theatre and dance majors. Interested students can contact theatre & dance faculty directly – our emails are listed below! Please note that we are an open admissions program so applications are NOT required for study as a theatre and dance major – rather they are only required if you wish to be considered for our talent based scholarships.
The scholarship application can be found by visiting our LINK TREE - https://linktr.ee/uwyotheatreanddance. Visit this to learn more about our department and to complete your theatre and dance scholarship application.
Theatre and Dance departmental scholarships can be stacked with other UW financial incentives. Please be sure to apply to the University of Wyoming in advance of completing the Theatre and Dance scholarship application to be considered.
Priority consideration will be given to scholarship applications received on or before March 15, 2025. Applications received after this deadline will be considered on a rolling basis and as funding is available.
All scholarship applicants should prepare the following materials to submit with your application:
ALL APPLICANTS
A photo of yourself - it can be a head shot, a dance shot, a selfie - really any picture that shows us the real YOU!
A resume about your experience and interests in theatre and / or dance
Contact information for three references
PERFORMANCE APPLICANTS (ACTING AND MUSICAL THEATRE)
Audition Material: Two Videos
Video 1 A 5-minute video including the following:
A slate - with your name and the names of your selections.
2 contrasting monologues (about 1.5-2 minutes in length)
OR
a monologue & 16 measures or one verse of a song from a musical (not a top 40 hit).
Suggestions: Contrasting means the material should show different aspects of your performance skills. This could mean one serious and one comedic/humorous piece, or one contemporary/modern language piece coupled with a classical piece (e.g., Shakespeare and Moliere). Avoid: Speech/Forensics pieces. We prefer to see material from plays that have fully developed characters. Novels, stories, poems and the like do not provide appropriate material for auditions.
