The University of Wyoming Department of Accounting and Finance offers both undergraduate and graduate accounting and finance degree programs in what is one of the 21st century's most diverse and stimulating fields.
At the University of Wyoming College of Business, we focus not only on the procedures and conventions followed in accounting, but more importantly, on developing the professional skills essential to future success. Here you will learn essential skills such as teamwork, listening, communicating (both orally and in writing), synthesis, evaluation, and critical thinking.
To achieve our goals, the Department of Accounting and Finance plans for, monitors, and assesses its programs. The BS in Accounting is a four-year degree program that prepares students to enter the workforce or to enroll in our MS in Accounting program. Students will have explored all aspects of the practice of accounting including: Accounting Information Systems, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing.
With a UW accounting or finance degree, career possibilities include: certified public accountant (CPA); information manager; chief financial officer; corporate controller; certified financial planner (CFP); business manager; certified internal auditor (CIA); bank examiner; certified management accountant (CMA); Internal Revenue Service agent; FBI Special Agent; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent; and management program trainer.
