Participants on the University of Wyoming Meat Judging team will learn the principles
of meat evaluation. The knowledge taught in the classroom and in the UW Meat Lab prepare
students to successfully compete at numerous national meat judging contests coordinated
by the American Meat Science Association, livestock shows and universities. Team
members are required to enroll in the Introduction to Meat Judging course and are
expected to practice regularly through the spring and fall semester during their one
year of eligibility. Participation on the UW Meat Judging team is a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity because of the meat industry knowledge gained, as well as connections
made with fellow team members and professionals in the industry.
