Dubbed “Youth Art Month” in 1961 by The Council for Art Education, INC (CFAE), March
is the month during which schools, museums, and art organizations nationwide celebrate
children creating art. Families with children of all ages are invited to join us here
at the museum for Youth Art Month: Art Party! We provide the supplies, you bring your
creativity!

Come join museum educators one Saturday a month for Art Buffet workshops! Each month, children and their families are invited to look closely at a different artwork on view at the museum and create artwork in response to what we see and learn. Feast your eyes on our buffet of supplies, we cannot wait to see what you make!
Check our event calendar for more details, and drop in for some no-cost weekend fun!
Educators from Albany County School District No. 1 choose the top works from students to create this exhibition. After first hanging in school administrative offices, the exhibition makes its way to the Art Museum! We host an annual reception to honor the hard work of these students and their teachers.

Each Spring and Fall we celebrate our current exhibitions on view with a public reception that is free and open to all. Light refreshments, cash bar, and entertainment are part of the fun!

Visiting artists share insights and anecdotes during Gallery Walk-Throughs scheduled throughout the year. These informal events are a great way to learn about artistic media, and ask questions to living, breathing artists exhibiting at the Art Museum. These events are free to the public.
For dates and times, check our events calendar.
During the academic year, our curators guide visitors through current exhibitions
with Conversations with Curators. These informal, short programs are a great way to
ask questions and gain new insights on artwork. Special guests are often invited for
a unique perspective or behind the scenes stories and connections. These events are
free to the public.
