The Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming has been ranked
No. 1 in the nation in a new “best value” list.
The department tops College Factual’s “2019 Best Geological and Earth Sciences Colleges for the Money” rankings.
College Factual, an online service that helps “every student get their best fit education
for less,” notes that the annual salary for UW geology graduates, on average, is $49,000
in their early careers (about 6-7% more than the average college graduate), growing
to $76,000 mid-career. The rankings also take into account the average time students
take to graduate, as well as the quality the school provides and the average yearly
cost of attendance.
The department also ranked equal 29th out of 242 geology departments nationwide in College Factual's "2019 Best Geological & Earth Sciences Colleges in the U.S." rankings. The ranking methodology takes into account factors such as education quality, average earnings of graduates, accreditation, and several other relevant factors.
College Factual additionally ranked the Geology major as the best major offered by the University of Wyoming for 2019.
