UW Offers Negotiated Gas Rate to Employees and Retirees

The University of Wyoming is offering employees and retirees an opportunity to choose the negotiated natural gas commodity price under the Choice Gas program.

Employees who have not selected a supplier and price have until 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, to sign up for the special UW rate.

UW negotiated the special natural gas commodity price with Wyoming Community Gas, one of 10 commodity suppliers selling gas under the Choice Gas program. The residential rate is being offered to employees in Black Hills’ Casper Division, which includes Laramie and Casper but not Cheyenne and Torrington.

“The negotiated UW employee rate is a fixed two-year rate, which is at $0.392/therm for the term from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2026,” says Shantel Utton, Engineering and Utilities Management deputy director. “You will not have to nominate again until April 2026.”

The price does not include the distribution charges added to all options.

Employees should keep in mind that the UW option might not be the most economical.

Enrollment guidance from Wyoming Community Gas is:

-- To sign up for UW’s rate, a control number is required and can be found on your 2024 Wyoming Choice Gas supplier selection form, which was mailed by Black Hills Utility.

-- If you did not receive the form, your control number can be obtained by calling 1-877-245-3506 or by going online to www.choicegas.com.

Once a control number is obtained, current UW employees and retirees can sign up for the negotiated fixed rate by using one of these three options:

-- Make your enrollment online by going to www.wyomingcommunitygas.org. Once you are there, enter your account number and the promo code UWYO (in all CAPS). Then, follow the steps to complete your Choice Gas enrollment. You will receive a confirmation email once your selection is processed.

-- E-mail the Wyoming Community Gas administrator directly at WyomingCommunityGas@constellation.com. Be sure to mention you are with UW, and provide your account and control numbers.

-- Call Wyoming Community Gas at 1-877-318-4051, and let a representative know you are calling to enroll using promo code UWYO.

All UW employees and retirees who enroll with Wyoming Community Gas will receive a $75 virtual gift card. The gift card email will be sent by June 7 after final confirmation from Black Hills Utlility. The email will be sent from reward@thevirtualrewardcenter.com.
