Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue Events Scheduled at UW Feb. 3

A number of events that tie into the contributions of black women during the civil rights movement to the present are scheduled during the 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue (MLK DOD) Feb. 3-9 at the University of Wyoming.

“MLK DOD events are scheduled during the second week of February. UW community members honor and recognize the continuing impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his life through this weeklong celebration,” says co-chair Erin Olsen Pueblitz, Wyoming Union associate director. “Activities and dialogue throughout the week serve as a renewal of UW’s commitment to making the campus and Wyoming an inclusive and empowering space for people from all backgrounds, experiences, orientations and abilities.”

She is co-chair along with Natawsha Mitchell, UW Multicultural Affairs senior project coordinator.

“This year’s theme, ‘Time’s Up,’ centers on the often-forgotten experiences and contributions of black women from the civil rights movement to the present,” Mitchell adds. “Through community-based programming, with an emphasis on the arts, this year’s MLK DOD uplifts creativity and healing as key components in the global struggle toward racial justice.”

In collaboration, MLK DOD and African American and Diaspora Studies, and UW Black Student Alliance Black History Month events are scheduled concurrently Jan. 31-Feb. 9.
