A longtime University of Wyoming Department of Music faculty member and a current associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences has been appointed as acting dean of the college, effective July 1.
Scott Turpen will take the reins of the college from Dean Camellia Okpodu, who has announced her resignation. She’ll serve in a transitional role until Sept. 1, when she moves to the faculty in the Department of Botany.
“We appreciate Dr. Okpodu’s service to the university and the college over the past year,” Provost and Executive Vice President Kevin Carman says. “We’re grateful that Dr. Turpen has agreed to lead this very important college while we consider the process for selecting a new dean.”
Turpen has been a member of the Department of Music faculty since 2001 and served as chair of the department before becoming an associate dean. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Georgia.
