UW and Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Workshop in Casper Jan. 31

For anyone contemplating starting a small business, the thought alone can be daunting. However, advice and assistance are available. 

Steen Stovall and Cindy Unger will discuss the basics of starting a business during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network workshop titled “Start Your Own Business” Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Natrona County Library, located at 307 E. Second St. in Casper. The presentation, which will take place in the Crawford Room, is in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). To register, go here. Registration is free. 

The workshop will help potential new business owners explore the pros and cons of owning a business and understand the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Stovall and Unger will discuss ways to investigate the potential of business ideas and how small-business owners can identify their target markets. Business owners also will learn about financing options and legal, tax and insurance issues they may encounter. 

Stovall is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Converse, Natrona, Niobrara and Platte counties. He has been involved in the small business and workforce development sectors for more than 25 years. A business veteran, he has co-founded companies in the oil, gas, retail and construction industries. He also has extensive instructional experience. 

Unger, business adviser for the Wyoming SBDC Network, has advised entrepreneurs in industries -- from hospitality to engineering to quilting -- during her more than 23 years with the Wyoming SBDC Network. Her specialty is helping clients create bankable business and marketing plans. Additionally, Unger has degrees in marketing and anthropology, and she is a small-business owner herself.
