WATR is Wyoming's Assistive Technology Act program and a resource for all assistive technology (AT) needs in Wyoming. AT may be a device or solution that enhances an individual's ability to live, play, or work independently. AT can take the form of a device, tool, or adaptation that supports a person when participating in everyday activities and settings.
The Assistive Technology Act supports state efforts to improve the provision of assistive technology by providing states with financial assistance to implement State Level Activities and State Leadership Activities to meet the assistive technology needs of individuals with disabilities.
WATR will host an Open House for National AT Awareness Day during lunch hours, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the WATR Lab, University of Wyoming Health Sciences Building, Room 151, at the intersection of 9th and Clark streets, Laramie. Accessible parking is available in the parking lot off of 9th Street.
Visit our lab to explore assistive technology available through our short-term loan program and learn about various services we provide to the state.
This day honors people with disabilities who require AT to access their education, workplace, community, and recreational activities. It also recognizes the innovation of researchers, educators, AT specialists, and program providers who operate AT programs so that millions of individuals can acquire and use AT.
Refreshments will be available.
WATR is collecting stories to highlight the impact of Assistive Technology (AT) in your daily life, school, or the workplace. How has AT made a difference for you? Whether it’s improved your daily living, supported your education, or helped you thrive at work, we’d love to hear your story.
Please send us your story by April 23rd. Your experience can inspire others about AT!
