Shooting Sports

The 4-H Shooting sports program gives youth the opportunity to enroll in up to five different shooting sports project areas including: archery, pistol, rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloading. Youth will learn safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment including sound decision making, self-discipline, and concentration. In 4-H shooting sports we look to promote the highest standards of ethical behavior, sportsmanship, and safety. Being part of the 4-H shooting sports projects will help you to understand our natural resources and develop a personal environmental stewardship through shooting and hunting related activities.

This project is unique in that it must be facilitated by a UW 4-H certified shooting sports volunteer. To learn more about the program in your area please contact your local Extension Office.

• Identify parts, uses and care of archery equipment or firearms
• Learn and practice range commands
• Learn and use safety rules such as eye and ear protection and correct behavior on the range
• Learn hunting basics
