Alumni who are distinguished in their business, profession, or life’s work, who are persons of integrity, stature, and demonstrated ability, and who reflect upon and realize the importance of their UW education are recognized as Distinguished Alumni. They are recognized during Homecoming, and many arrange for special events with their respective colleges during this time, providing inspiration and advice to students and others.

UW has many loyal friends and supporters, and the Medallion Service Award is a way to acknowledge their many contributions. Individuals who give unselfishly of their time, talent, or support to the university are and people of integrity and stature are eligible. They do not have to be UW alumni.
Like Distinguished Alumni, honorees are recognized during Homecoming.
